The Highlanders have a long history of doing parades, and, parades pay the bills! Parades can be a lot of fun but weather extremes can diminish that a bit, it isn’t much fun to march on a 90° day and the pipes don’t work so well on a 14° one!
As a military themed band, the Highlanders’ parade uniform features an aviator style shirt with epaulets or a green wool sweater for cold weather. The Pipe and Drum Major, Pipe and Drum Sergeant, and any Corporals wear insignia on their epaulets to signify rank.
Modern day Highlanders wear Ghillie Brogues for competition and more formal appearances but continue to wear diced hose and spats on parade to honor our military heritage.
