For as long as we can remember, the Highlanders have been privileged to be invited to the annual Bagpipes & Bonfire in Lake Forest, IL. The Lake Forest Open Lands Association hosts this event each fall and invites pipe bands from the Chicago area to march together in a “massed bands” style formation for the crowd. Other highlights of the event are kilted skydivers and a piper kicking off Amazing Grace from the top of the bonfire before it’s lit. For the past few years, world champion Drum Major Jason Paguio has led the bands and prior to that it was Steve Harrison from Canada’s Highland Creek Pipe Band.
